  1. About MetaTrack

  3. MetaTrack is the MetaSynth mixer. It is a direct to disk audio montage & mixing application specially designed for use with MetaSynth. It is the ideal application for mixing compositions whose sounds were created with MetaSynth's 'sound pictures'.

MetaTrack opens MetaSynth preset libraries and lets you create a montage (or 'sequence') by simply dragging MetaSynth sound pictures and dropping them in place. Sounds are displayed not as waveforms but as sonograms and MetaSynth sound pictures. Automatic snap to grid and file management makes it easy to use.

  7. You may mix up to 16 tracks each with its own Effects. The montage can be mixed to disk , or the tracks may be exported to be used with another audio sequencer. The user interface makes it a snap to create mixes of your MetaSynth compositions.

  9. A number of examples have been provided on the MetaSynth CD to give you an idea of how much you can do with just MetaTrack and MetaSynth and no external synthesizers or special hardware.

  11. System Requirements
  12. MetaSynth requires a Macintosh computer equipped with  a PowerPC chip and system 7.x or later.

  14. Demo Mode/Purchasing
  15. Without a registration code, MetaTrack runs in demo mode for a limited number of launches. All features except for saving are available. MetaTrack can be purchased directly from U&I Software by visiting our web site <http://www.uisoftware.com/>.

  17. Features
  18. -    MetaTrack can generally play back 16 stereo tracks on a 200 MHz machine. The actual performance will vary with the speed of the hard disk and the number of effects in use. (This number may decrease dramatically on slow or badly fragmented drives.) NOTE: Even a slow machine can be used to mix 16 tracks even if it can not play back all of the premixed tracks in real time.

  20. -    The MetaTrack user interface is designed to be used with screen sizes 832*624 or larger. It will work on a smaller screen but not all 16 tracks will be visible.

  22. - MetaTrack preloads small sounds into memory for improved performance. Giving MetaTrack a large partition size will often increase the number of tracks that can be previewed.

  24. - DSP effects such as reverb, stereo echo, eq and more are available for each track. Certain effects are CPU intensive and a 300 (or more) MHz machine may be necessary for smooth play back. However effects will be applied correctly when mixed to disk regardless of the CPU speed.

  27. The CD contains examples of complete pieces created entirely with MetaSynth and MetaTrack. Check these out to see what you can accomplish with these applications and no external audio.
  28. The folder Pattern Dance AUDIO ƒ shows you how the music of the movie Pattern Dance II was created with ArtMatic and MetaSynth generated sounds,  all assembled in MetaTrack.

  46. Version 1.3 fixes the following problems :
  47. -inverted pan direction
  48. -hand tool not setting the start position correctly
  49. -'Mix selection' duration sometimes wrong
  50. -Import sound now uses command-H as its shortcut. Command-I is used by Insert.

  53. -Added more options for envelopes and fades. In/out fades (linear or cubic) can be directly adjusted by clicking in the dialog envelope preview.

  57. -Visual clue added when the sound file is unfound : a red frame in the preset list indicates that the file has been either moved or was not saved to disk.
